Hello from beautiful San Diego! I’m here at Cisco Live 2019 this week and I’m noticing that in many conversations with customers and partners, the theme of reducing complexity has come up time and time again.
In fact, according to the IT Spending Intentions Survey conducted by analyst group ESG, 68% of respondents say their IT environment is more complex than it was two years ago. That’s why forward-thinking organizations need to make IT as agile and as simple as possible. It’s all about making technology work for you, not the other way around. One of the things that commonly stands in the way of achieving that goal is data protection. Simply put, new workloads cannot be deployed unless those workloads can be adequately protected.
Veeam and Cisco have kept that in mind and are closely partnering together to help customers reduce their data protection cost and complexity, while also better protecting their data. Customers are able to run Veeam Availability solutions on Cisco UCS storage servers or Cisco HyperFlex hyperconvergence platform to reduce their complexity while providing the data management today’s organizations require. From enhanced visibility, to multi-cloud support and better price for performance, there are a multitude of benefits from the joint solutions that help reduce complexity.
Peace of mind
Veeam Availability Solution for Cisco UCS leverages Cisco UCS M240 or S3260 storage servers and Veeam Availability Suite to deliver robust data management and confidence that data is always available and protected.
As for Veeam Availability on Cisco HyperFlex, Veeam’s running on the HyperFlex platform means that the Veeam software is able to take advantage of HyperFlex advanced capabilities such as failover, clustering and self-healing. This makes for a highly resilient data protection platform that’s immune to disk and node failures.
Ease of use
Enterprise-grade data protection solutions have become notorious for being difficult to implement and manage. There is often a steep learning curve associated with such products. In contrast, the Veeam/Cisco solution is designed to provide turnkey data protection for the enterprise.
The entire solution can be purchased through a single Cisco SKU, and like other hyperconverged solutions, it’s designed for easy deployment. Additionally, the platform supports the use of backup policies that behave in a consistent manner, regardless of whether the protected resources reside on physical or virtual hardware, or in the cloud.
Any app, any data, any cloud
Managing multiple clouds can often be a pain point for even the most skilled IT teams. Veeam can overcome that obstacle — the Veeam Availability solution is able to protect physical, virtual, and cloud-based workloads. Veeam can protect all of an organization’s applications and data, regardless of where it resides. Furthermore, backups can be replicated to the cloud, and multi-cloud environments are fully supported.
Unmatched price and performance
Veeam and Cisco are committed to helping enterprise customers make the most of their data protection budgets by delivering exceptional performance for a fraction of what competing solutions cost. According to another study by the Enterprise Strategy Group, “the price / performance of Veeam / Cisco solution is 49% lower than the examined alternative.” That means that organizations are receiving 2x better value than alternative solutions. This same study also concluded that the performance delivered by the Veeam and Cisco solution was 28.9% higher than the alternative solutions assessed.
Partnering together to help customers
The Veeam/Cisco data protection platform is designed to be easy to deploy and manage, while also delivering high performance and high availability at a very competitive cost. The partnership, as shown by the previous savings statistics from ESG, proves that some things are just better together.
If you are at Cisco Live this week, come visit Veeam at booth #2305. We’d love to talk to you about how Veeam and Cisco can help you take the complexity out of data protection.
